From 15 July to 9 August, a select group of 27 undergraduate students from Medical School of Nanjing University embarked on a global scientific expedition and research training program in Perth, Australia, in collaboration with the University of Western Australia (UWA). This initiative is a strategic step in enhancing the quality of medical education and nurturing students with an international perspective and cross-cultural communication skills.
During the first week at UWA, students were dedicated to a comprehensive understanding of Australia's community medical system. They engaged in specialized courses on medical research methods, research ethics, and scientific writing, laying a solid foundation for their professional development. Over the next three weeks, students will be divided into various research groups and laboratories for in-depth study. Some students will also have the opportunity to receive practical training in clinical settings, further deepening their understanding of the latest trends in the global biomedicine field and mastering the full process of experimental design and medical experimentation.
The program also featured a homestay experience, allowing students to immerse themselves in the multicultural and international atmosphere of Perth. Enthusiastically welcomed by local families, students gained insights into the Australian lifestyle and culture, enhancing their international outlook and cross-cultural communication abilities.
