Wei Xu obtained his Bachelor’s degree from Nanjing Medical College in 1988, and his master’s degree from Nanjing Medical University in 1997. In 2001, he furthered his education at Tel Aviv University in Israel. He received his Doctoral degree from Wuhan University in 2008. Since joining Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital in 1988, he has dedicated his career to clinical diagnosis, treatment, and research in the field of cardiovascular diseases. He has played a pioneering role in China as one of the early experts in cardiac pacing and electrophysiological intervention therapy.
He is the Deputy Editor in Chief of the Cardiology Channel of the National Health and Family Planning Commission Medical Reference Journal. He is also a member of the editorial boards of multiple professional academic journals, including the American Heart Rhythm Society Fellow, the European Heart Association Fellow, the Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Society Fellow, and the Chinese Journal of Arrhythmias.
Wei Xu’s contributions to the field of cardiovascular disease are substantial. He was at the forefront of implementing innovative procedures in Jiangsu, such as atrial fibrillation pulmonary vein electrical isolation, three-chamber pacemaker implantation, and cardiac defibrillator implantation. Notably, he has gained a renowned reputation in China for his expertise in the treatment of heart implantable electronic device infections.
