Biao Xu is a Chief Physician, a Professor, a Doctoral Supervisor, the Director of the Cardiology Department, and the Director of the Chest Pain Center and Valve Center. He enjoys special government subsidies. Additionally, he also serves as the Vice Chairman of a national society and Chairman of several provincial societies. Biao Xu has successfully led multiple significant projects, including a national science and technology plan project, a key research and development plan project, six national research projects, and over 20 provincial scientific research projects. He has published more than 300 papers, including over 150 SCI papers. Notably, his research results have been referenced in internationally renowned guides such as ESC (European Society of Cardiology), ACC (American College of Cardiology), and AHA (American Heart Association). He has been recognized as a leader of the “Jiangsu Science and Technology Innovation Team,” and has received multiple awards, including the third prize of the Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award, the China Outstanding Cardiovascular Disease Research Award, the first prize of the Jiangsu New Technology Award, and the second and third prizes of the Jiangsu Science and Technology Progress Award.
Biao Xu has played a pivotal role in introducing several groundbreaking procedures and techniques to China. He was among the first in the country to pioneer several advancements, including floating catheter hemodynamic monitoring, pacemaker implantation, emergency percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), intracoronary thrombolysis, precise chemical ablation of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, PCI of complex lesions, transvascular myocardial and intracardiac tumor biopsy, renal artery ablation, transvascular aortic valve replacement, single-catheter retrograde coronary occlusive lesions, and transcoronary ablation of high-risk arrhythmias.
