Prof. Jiang has pursued an impressive medical career for 34 years, during which he has performed over 20,000 surgeries and provided treatment to more than 100,000 patients. Since 1989, he has been actively involved in both clinical and basic research in the field of orthopedic and sports medicine. He is the first clinical doctor in sports medicine who was cultivated in China, and the sole recipient in the field of sports medicine to have been awarded the National Outstanding Youth Fund. Under his leadership, the Department of Sports Medicine and Adult Reconstructive Surgery, is the only joint disease diagnosis and treatment center identified by the Jiangsu Provincial Health Department. It also serves as the training base for artificial joint and arthroscopic techniques in Jiangsu province. And it was recognized as the sub-center of National Orthopedics and Sports Rehabilitation Clinical Research Center.
Prof. Jiang’s primary focus lies in the basic and clinical research of sports system diseases. He has an impressive publication record, including 243 papers on core journals of China and 289 SCI papers on prestigious international journals such as Nature Medicine, Nature Genetics, Nature Communications, Cell Metabolism, PNAS, Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases, Science Translational Medicine, Advanced Materials, ACS NANO, among others. His publications have received a total of 4198 citations, with the highest citation count being 119. His H-index is 27.
Professor Jiang is the chief scientist in a national key research and development program. He has also led numerous other projects, such as a major program funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, a major international cooperation program funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), a program funded by the National Outstanding Youth Fund, a key project of NSFC, a major project of NSFC, and a sub-project leader of the Ministry of Health Industry Fund, a total of 26 national or provincial projects and won 8 national patents.
Prof. Jiang’s team has achieved remarkable success in their clinical and basic research of Osteoarthritis, as evidenced by their winning the first prize of Medical New Technology Introduction from the Jiangsu Provincial Health Commission in 2019, the first prize of the 2018 Science and Technology Awards in Jiangsu Province, and second prize of the 2015 Natural Science Awards by China Education Ministry. Their research on DVT has won the second prize of the 2021 Science and Technology Awards in Jiangsu Province.
Prof. Jiang is the first committee member from China of the Osteoarthritis Research Society International (OARSI), the Vice Chair of the China branch of the basic research branch of the International Society of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology (SICOT), the Vice Chair of China branch of the International Cartilage Regeneration and Joint Preservation Society (ICRS), the Vice Chairman of sports medicine branch of Chinese Medical Association, the Chairman-designate of orthopedics branch of Jiangsu province, the Chairman of sports medicine branch of Jiangsu province, and the head of Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital Orthopedics Laboratory of the International Chinese Musculoskeletal Research Society (ICMRS), among others.
Prof. Jiang serves as an editorial board member for several SCI journals, including BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders (IF=2.562), Osteoarthritis and Cartilage (IF=7.507), and Orthopedic Surgery (IF=2.279). Additionally, he is the founder and the chief editor for the English journal Annals of Joint (aoj.amegroups.com).
Prof. Jiang has played a leading role in developing guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of osteoarthritis. He has also contributed to the preparation of various orthopedics guides within the country. Furthermore, his expertise has been recognized internationally, as he has been invited to deliver lectures in Australia and Japan on multiple occasions.
