Kai Hu

Personal Profile:

Professor Hu received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from Southeast University Medical School. From 2010 to 2011, he was a visiting scholar at the Ophthalmology Department of Harvard Medical School, and from 2011 to 2013 he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Schepens Eye Research Institute of Harvard Medical School. Currently, he serves as a professor and Ph.D. supervisor at Nanjing University Medical School. He also holds the position of Deputy Administrative Director of the Ophthalmology Department at Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital, the Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing University Medical School.

 

With over 20 years of working experience in ophthalmology, Professor Hu has gained extensive clinical and scientific knowledge in the field. He is proficient in the diagnosis and treatment of ophthalmic diseases, from common problems to complex cases, as well as in performing large-scale ophthalmic surgeries.

 

Apart from his clinical practice, Professor Hu is also a clinician-scientist, specializing in research on the ocular surface and corneal diseases. His research focuses on investigating the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of herpes simplex keratitis (HSK) and dry eye disease (DED), as well as developing treatments and preventive measures for these conditions.

 

Professor Hu has received funding for his research from several national, provincial, and municipal institutes and projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Natural Science Foundation of Jiangsu Province, and Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities. He has an extensive publication record, including over two dozen papers in SCI-indexed journals, and holds two authorized patents.
