Personal Profile:

Dr. Gao Xia received his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees from the Fourth Military Medical University in 1987, 1994, and 2002, respectively. He worked as a resident physician and attending physician (lecturer) at Xijing Hospital, Affiliated to Fourth Military Medical University from 1987 to 2002. Since 2002, he has been the Deputy Chief Physician and then Chief Physician for the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, Drum Tower Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing University School of Medicine. He worked as a visiting scholar at Oxford University in England in 1997 and 1998, and then at Giessen University in Germany in 1999.

 

With over 30 years of clinical experience, Dr. Gao Xia’s primary research focus is on audiology and otology, including clinical and basic research. His work has received funding from the National Natural Science Foundation of China through general and major programs, as well as provincial and municipal scientific research projects from Jiangsu province. Dr. Gao Xia has been recognized with several awards for his contributions to medical science and technology, including the second prize in the Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award, the first prize in the Jiangsu Medical Science and Technology Award, the third prize in the Jiangsu Science and Technology Progress Award, and the second prize in the Nanjing Science and Technology Progress Award. Additionally, he serves as the editor-in-chief of two monographs on audiology and otology.
