Chiyuan Ma obtained his Master’s and Doctoral degrees from the School of Medicine at the Second Military Medical University (now called Naval Medical University) in 2000 and 2003, respectively. In 2003, he joined Jinling Hospital, Affiliated Hospital of Medical School, Nanjing University as a neurosurgeon, and was later promoted to Professor in 2020 and the Director of the Department of Neurosurgery in 2021. He worked as a visiting scholar at several institutions including the Barrow Neurological Institute in the United States from 2006 to 2007, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in the United States from 2010 to 2011, Massachusetts General Hospital in the United States in 2015, and Prince of Wales Hospital in Australia in 2018. In 2015, he received the Wang Zhongcheng Chinese Young Neurosurgeons Award, which is the top award for neurosurgeons in China. His current research interests include developing innovative treatment strategies for brain tumors, and applying AI and Brain Computer Interfaces in clinical practice.
