Kuanyu Li earned her Bachelor’s degree in Genetics and Breeding from Nanjing Forestry University in 1990, followed by a Ph.D. degree in the same field in 1995 under the supervision of Dr. Mingxiu Wang (Academician), with a focus on Poplar genetics and breeding. After completing her Ph.D., Dr. Li joined the Department of Biology at Nanjing University, where she was promoted to associate professor in 1998. From 1999 to 2009, she pursued postdoctoral training in gene regulation and expression at the University of Giessen, Germany, under the guidance of Dr. Gabriele Klug, and in iron metabolism (specifically, iron-sulfur cluster biogenesis) at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), National Institutes of Health (NIH), the United States,under the guidance of Dr. Tracey Rouault. In 2009, Dr. Li returned to Nanjing University as a Principal Investigator and a full professor at the Medical School. Her research interests lie in iron metabolism, with a focus on iron-related diseases.
