On May 17th, the “2022 Jinling Forum on Infectious Diseases and Public Health” hosted by the Medical School of Nanjing University was successfully held. This conference was part of the academic activities for Nanjing University’s 120th anniversary celebration. Zhang Junfeng, Vice President and Dean of the Medical School of Nanjing University, Zhu Fengcai, Deputy Director of Jiangsu Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Jiang Tian, Director of the Office of Science and Technology of Nanjing University, Shen Sunan, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Medical School, Wang Hongwei and Wang Tingting, Vice Deans of the Medical School, attended the meeting.
Renowned experts and scholars from Jiangsu Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Southeast University, Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital affiliated to Nanjing University Medical School, Nanjing Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital, Nanjing Second Hospital, and other institutions joined 200 faculty and students from Nanjing University Medical School to share this academic feast and celebrate the 120th anniversary of Nanjing University.
Professor Zhang Junfeng served as the Chairman of the conference and delivered the opening remarks. He highly praised the significance of the conference, and stated that the theme of this conference is closely related to the national major strategic. On behalf of Nanjing University, he also expressed his gratitude to the experts attending this conference for the long-term support and assistance for the development of Nanjing University.
Director Jiang Tian delivered a welcome remark. He said that this conference was a high-level and high-standard academic conference, and hoped that the participating experts would continue to support the scientific research development of Nanjing University.
Wang Hongwei, Vice Dean of the Medical School of Nanjing University, presided over the conference and introduced the research achievements of the Medical School to the participating experts and faculty. He expressed sincere thanks to the attending experts for their support and contributions.

The conference focused on the health and well-being of the people, and discussed hot topics in public health such as the epidemiology of COVID-19, prevention and control measures for major infectious diseases, current status and characteristics of tuberculosis and parasitic infections, basic and clinical research on immunity against infections, new technologies for antibody preparation and vaccine development in infectious disease prevention and control. Thirteen invited presentations were arranged around these hot topics in four sessions. Through this one-day conference, the participants expanded their horizons, andgained more valuable knowledge on theoretical foundations and guidance strategies for future epidemic prevention and control and clinical treatment of infectious diseases. The conference actively responded to General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions on scientific work, emphasizing that the scientific and technological development must target the global science frontiers, serve the main economic battlefield, strive to fulfill the significant needs of the country and benefit people’s lives and health. The conference further promoted the development of preventive medicine, clinical medicine, basic medicine, and other disciplines, achieving the goal of combining scientific research and talent cultivation.
Secretary Shen Sunan delivered the closing remarks of the conference, thanking the participants and experts for their contributions and highly affirming the success of the conference. Secretary Shen Sunan said that the successful holding of the conference would inspire the faculty and students of the Medical School to make the most of their time, forge ahead, and reach new heights in science.
